Sarah - can you tell my why they spell "friDge" with a "D" when it is clearly not there in the word "refrigerator", the word from whence it was coined?
Nanuk: I think it is a play on "Frigid" - there was a brand named Fridgidair” so it may be like calling all copies Xeroxes or all colas Coke, but that's just a guess - I still call 'em Ice-Boxes.

I was wondering that very same thing. I suspect it's just to confuse us.
